Race, Sexuality, and Russia with Mike Perry

 

We discuss Race and Ethnicity Chair Mike Perry’s recent article entitled “Fashionability Politics: Leveraging anti-Russian Sentiment to Perpetuate Racial Hierarchy within the LGBTQ Community.” He argues that the focus on the Russian government’s treatment of LGBTQ people, while deserved, is problematic as it reinforces a racial hierarchy within the LGBT community.
